Meet Chanthy, a determined 12-year-old who studies in Grade 6. Chanthy, lives with her grandmother as her parents are itinerant labourers. Chanthy dreams of becoming a teacher to help children learn and build brighter futures.

Thanks to the support from Care for Cambodia over the past 4 years, she has developed valuable skills and a deep love for learning.

Chanthy is committed to working hard to make her dream a reality and uplift her community!

We’ve just spent a wonderful week with a team fr

We’ve just spent a wonderful week with a team from our partners @edukid.org.uk and students from Ashville College.

We travelled around the country learning about the history, culture of Cambodia and the challenges of everyday life for many here. We also were able to spend some time distributing school packs which we are only able to provide through the generosity of Edukid and their donors.

This week our team are extremely busy packing school materials for 1,613 kids in our projects.
School packs include, uniforms, books and stationery. The provision of these valuable materials removes one significant barrier to education for kids in rural Cambodia.

Thankfully we have Alice to supervise. She watches attentively to ensure there is no laziness from ChomRoeun, Peter, Kunthea, Sreyleak, Sok or Sreyda.

We have many inspirational kids in our projects, the beautiful Sreyda has been studying with us since she was 6 years old and is now a 15-year-old student.

Despite facing physical challenges due a disability from birth, she was born missing her lower right forearm. Sreyda has always participated fully in our programs and her dedication to her education shines through with excellent results at both school and in our children’s club. She supports her teachers by helping younger students, while also contributing to her family by caring for the livestock and assisting with the harvest. Sreyda’s courage and resilience are truly inspiring, and we are proud to have provided her with opportunities to grow through our program! #CareForCambodia #empoweringyouth

My name is Yubonan, I’m a 12-year-old boy studyi

My name is Yubonan, I’m a 12-year-old boy studying in Grade 6 in Oddor Meanchey Province. I have one sister and three brothers and I am the youngest. We all live with my parents who are farmers.

I have been attending the children’s club for more than 6 months. In our village, which is very remote, most children like me and others do not really know how to read or write well. When I joined the children’s club, even for a short time, I gained a lot of knowledge. I learned how to read, write, and communicate more appropriately with friends and elders. In my free time, I help my mother with farming tasks, such as watering crops, removing insects from leaves to help the crops grow well, and after harvesting, we keep some for food and sell the rest to support our family.

Thank you to Care for Cambodia for establishing a school in our community, helping me and many other children who couldn’t read or write to have the opportunity to learn.

The ongoing war situation in the region made for uncertain and
